L052 Atabapo Butterfly Pleco (Dekeyseria picta)

The L052 Butterfly Pleco, also known as the Atabapo Butterfly Pleco (Dekeyseria picta), is a beautifully patterned pleco native to the Atabapo and Orinoco River systems of Colombia and Venezuela. In the wild, this species inhabits warm, acidic blackwater environments, where it spends much of its time resting on rocks and driftwood while grazing on algae and organic material.

In the aquarium, the L052 is considered a hardy and adaptable pleco, but it performs best in soft, well-oxygenated water with plenty of hiding places such as driftwood, rocks, and caves. Its flattened body and striking striped pattern make it a unique and attractive addition to freshwater aquariums.

This species is generally peaceful but may show territorial behavior toward other plecos or similar bottom-dwelling fish, especially in smaller tanks.
